The Toronto branch of the Ukrainian Scout organization Plast celebrated its 70th anniversary in September with a week of fun, entertainment and all the elements that reflect the goals and ideas of the organization. The members did a good deed, participated in a walk to the Blue Jays game, and listened to a speech “At the vatra with Ruslan Wrzesnewskyj”. They also attended multiple youth meetings, a paint night, and fun vatra with family fun. The organizer of the Plast week was Marichka Melnyk, a seniour Plast member.

On September 22, Toronto Plast members met at the Gutsuliak Plast Center at 516 The Kingsway. The honorable guest of the celebration, Borys Wrzesnewskyj presented the Plast board with the archival photo, signed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Foreign Minister Christia Freeland, Ambassador Roman Waschuk and MP Borys Wrzesnewskyj. The photo was taken in Kyiv before the signing of the bilateral free trade agreement between Canada and Ukraine. The photo holds the key advisers of Canada’s Prime Minister about Ukraine. Almost all of the photographed are former members of Plast. Wrzesnewskyj explained that “It is not by chance that this group was in those key positions during extremely important time for Ukraine, (positions of) advisers of our government. Plast teaches our children leadership based on values, and among those values is the reverence for our ancestors, and where we come from”.

At the end of the celebration, the members filmed a video greetings for the Winnipeg Plast, which celebrated its 70th anniversary on the same day.

Станиці Пласт-Торонто – 70 років

Торонтонська станиця української скаутської організації «Пласт» почала святкувати 70-ліття 22 вересня у Пластовій Домівці ім. Гуцуляків на 516 the Kingsway. Тиждень розваг включав всі елементи, які віддзеркалюють пластові цілі і ідеї: добре діло, прогулянка на гру Blue Jays, промова “При ватрі з Русланою Вжесневською”, юнацькі сходини, товариський вечір малювання, весела ватра та родинні забави. Організатор тижня Пласту – пластунка-сеньйорка Марічка Мельник.

На станичному апелі 22 вересня почесний гість святкування Борис Вжесневський подарував управі архівну світлину, яку підписали Прем’єр-міністр Джастін Трудо, міністр закордонних справ Христя Фріленд, посол Роман Ващук і депутат Борис Вжесневський. Світлина зроблена в Києві перед підписом двохстороннього договору щодо вільної торгівлі між Канадою і Україною. На світлині зображені ключові радники Прем’єр Міністра щодо справ України. Майже всі – пластуни. Вжесневський пояснив, що «То не випадково, що ця група опинилась в тих позиціях в надзвичайно ключовий час для України, радниками нашого уряду. Бо Пласт вчить наших дітей провідництва, лідерства, на основі цінностей і серед тих цінностей є шанування наших предків, звідки ми».

Наприкінці станичного апелю був знятий відео-привіт вінніпезькій станиці Пласту, яка святкувала своє 70-річчя у той самий день.
